Pushing Up the Sleeves of Midnight

Pushing Up the Sleeves of Midnight

I am the wind sailing above
the clouds
waiting for horizon
choking on the mist of the masts
that stroke my heart
at midnight

questions linger
words dance in my head
they won’t settle in bed
like they’re supposed to

on the horizon
they set into the tall shadows of night
leaving footprints on my heart
pushing up the sleeves
of midnight
