About Memomuse

Hello!  My initials are m.e.m.o. I like lowercase letters.  Much like T.S. Eliot, I like to break the rules.  I am a teaching artist, writer-in-residence, arts educator, writer, poet, and photographer.

I am a new mama so I have been writing a lot about that subject, especially the struggles.  I write honest, raw, and clumsy sometimes, but I hope you will nod your head and scream AMEN – I FEEL YA SISTA! I like to write about the things mamas don’t admit to their friends and to themselves sometimes about being a mama.  It’s a tough job.  I thought this was a cliche, it turns out it’s true – so damn true.

That’s me — memomuse

Thank you for visiting my blog/website.  I will be posting a poem, essay, photograph, and/or quote everyday (or my very best attempt at everyday).  Most , if not all photographs posted were taken by me.   All poetry and essays were also written by memomuse.   Please feel free to leave comments.  I love the attention!

I have been published in This Day: Diaries of American Women, Eagles of Light, Mamalode, Cowgirl, Rodeo News, and various anthologies, including Traveling Time by Old Mountain Press.  I am also the creator of The Original Journal.

I hope your day is filled with muse and poetry, and moments that make you pause in delight and beauty.

Peace & Poetry,

memomuuse (Megan Oteri)

  2. Good afternoon. I’ve just joined your blog. I was also a late arrival to world of motherhood – 37 when I had my first son, David, and 39 when I had my second son, Matthew. Actually, now I qualify at the other end of the spectrum – 20 years post menopausal and no children at home. At first, I missed them. Now I’m trying to figure out what to do with the rest of my life – I’m only 65 and my grandmother lived to 99+, so I’ve got lots of time left.

    • Thanks for taking the time to comment. I also appreciate your interest in my writing and blog. My mom had me at 38 and my grandmother had her at 38 as well. Sounds like you are a new exciting path of discovery and renewal. Let’s keep in touch. I have to go to the park now…transforming from writer to mom in 3..2..1!
Thanks for stopping by and sharing a little bit about your journey. Can I ask how you fund my blog?
